“Could not update smart object because the ICC profile is invalid” (Photoshop)

If you’ve received this message, just give up… kidding.. kidding.

You’ve received this message because the actions were designed around specific print color profiles and you’re trying to run the actions on an image file using a less common one and, it’s breaking the action/s.

(With the image open)

  1. Go to: EDIT > Convert to Profile… (You’ll then activate a pop-up window)
  2. In the pop-up dialog, in the section labeled “Destination Space”, select the profile “Adobe RGB (1998)” or “sRGB IEC61966-2.1“, then click “OK” —> (I use Adobe RGB 1998 because it’s is one of the best color profiles for printing, in general.)
  3. Problem solved, go run your actions!
